He turns around and faces her,
His eyes now gleaming with tears,
She knows well what plagues his mind
Having felt the same for years.

His gaze did once more capture her,
His eyes not letting go,
Tearing at her security
And now she can’t say no.

She feels herself losing control,
Embracing this feeling tight,
His eyes do beg her desperately
Hoping their love will live this night.

She reaches out and touches him,
Not quite knowing why,
He feels her fingers stroke his face
And from his lips escapes a sigh.

Suddenly he bends his head
To seize this fatal kiss
And while they let their tears run free
They realize how wrong this is.

The contact is broken, painfully quick,
Yet their hearts are forever bound
And now they both must go and search
For peace that can’t be found.
